Since this is a river cruise night time entertainment is more low key. Tonight we are more than jet lagged so after dinner which is at 7 (each night) we are off to bed. Only 25 hours awake except for a small nap from the airport. Moscow traffic is terrible. About 2 hours to get from the airport to the ship. (65 km) This is the normal amount of time. No accidents. Good news is it is easy to fall asleep in the van.
Tomorrow we have an all day private tour to see the Kremlin and the armory. We are to meet the guides at a local hotel in central Moscow. Of course that means getting cash at the airport (the tour guide frowned upon this) apparently poor conversion rates. We do it anyway. Then we are to walk to the metro station from the ship dock, take the metro and find the correct exit and locate the hotel. Seems simple enough.
Viking changed the itinerary and we booked this private tour mostly so we could tour the armory and the Kremlin. This is where all the Crown Jewels of Russia are stored as well as fabrege eggs and other treasures. To shorten the story. We could have booked with Viking since they change the schedule but we wouldn’t have met our tour guides
All in Moscow is in preparation for the World Cup soccer games that start here on June 14th and “Russia” day which is a national holiday (June 12) so large portions of the city are blocked off with Spector stands erected and special events planned since everyone does not work. These 2 things impacted Viking’s schedule and caused major changes in the city and some of the touristy things you would see. Hopefully we will be able to do the armory and Kremlin tomorrow
